Q
function of fibers
I'm a seasoned industrial engineer with a keen interest in machine learning. Here to share insights on latest industry trends.
Fibers are essential components of our diet that play various critical roles in maintaining health. They are found in fruits, vegetables, grains, and legumes, and consist of parts of plant foods that cannot be digested or absorbed by the body. There are two types of dietary fiber: soluble and insoluble. Soluble fiber dissolves in water to form a gel-like substance, helping to lower blood cholesterol and glucose levels. It's found in oats, peas, beans, apples, and citrus fruits. Insoluble fiber, found in whole wheat flour, wheat bran, nuts, beans, and vegetables, benefits the digestive system by increasing stool bulk and helping to prevent constipation. Fibers enhance satiety, aid in weight management, and may reduce the risk of developing conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, and colorectal cancer. Despite their advantages, many diets lack adequate amounts of fiber, underscoring the need to consciously include fiber-rich foods for overall health improvement.
