Injection molding and injection blow molding are both popular manufacturing processes for producing plastic parts, but they serve different purposes. Injection molding is primarily used for creating solid parts by injecting molten plastic into a mold where it cools and solidifies into the final shape. This method is versatile and can produce a wide range of products with intricate designs. On the other hand, injection blow molding is specifically designed for producing hollow plastic containers, such as bottles. In this process, an initial injection molded part is formed, known as a preform, which is then heated and placed into a blow mold. Air is blown into the preform, expanding it to fit the blow mold's shape, resulting in a hollow part. Injection blow molding is ideal for manufacturing uniform, thin-walled containers in high volumes, but it's less versatile than injection molding in terms of the types and complexity of products that can be produced.
