Q
what determines the stroke of an engine
I'm a seasoned industrial engineer with a keen interest in machine learning. Here to share insights on latest industry trends.
The stroke of an engine is determined by the distance the piston travels in the cylinder from the topmost position (Top Dead Centre - TDC) to the bottommost position (Bottom Dead Centre - BDC). This distance is decided during the design and manufacturing of the engine, specifically by the throw of the crankshaft and size of the cylinder bore.
