Tyres need to meet standards for rolling resistance, wet grip, rolling sound emissions from October
PTI Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Gadkari. According to an official statement, new tires for cars, trucks and buses will have to meet prescribed standards for rolling resistance, wet grip and rolling noise emissions from October. A tire’s rolling resistance affects a vehicle’s fuel efficiency. Wet grip improves vehicle safety by affecting the braking performance of tires on wet pavement. Rolling noise emissions relate to the sound made by tires as they strike a moving road. “The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has issued a notification stipulating rolling resistance, wet grip and rolling noise emission requirements for C1 (passenger cars) in the automotive sector, C2 (light trucks) and C3 (trucks and buses) class tires. “As defined in Standard 142:2019 Intermediate.” According to the MoRTH notification, all existing tire designs must comply with the wet grip and rolling resistance standards from April next year,...

Tire recycling can be a complex process due to the durability and non-biodegradable nature of the materials. However. there are various innovative methods available for effectively recycling tires. Here are some tips on how to recycle tires: First. consider contacting a recycling center. These facilities have large industrial machines that can break down tires into manageable sizes. separate the steel parts. and recycle them individually. Another option is to reuse old tires at home. whether it’s turning them into planters. tire swings. or obstacle courses. Tires can also be converted into high calorific value fuels through a process called Tire Derived Fuel TDF. which is commonly used in industrial facilities. Additionally. ground and shredded tire rubber can be mixed with asphalt for paving and backfilling in civil engineering projects. providing benefits such as reduced noise and vibration levels on roads. Another way to repurpose tires is by producing crumb rubber – sma...

For wet roads, tires with excellent water dispersion, grip, and braking capabilities are vital. Michelin Pilot Sport 4S and Continental PremiumContact 6 are top choices, providing outstanding wet performance through their unique tread designs and rubber compounds. These tires feature hydroplaning resistance and enhanced contact with the road, ensuring safety and control in wet conditions. Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3 also deserves mention for its wet grip and responsive handling. It’s crucial to consider tires specifically designed for wet conditions to maximize safety and performance.
