Q
ti crystal structure

Release Time:

Titanium (Ti) has a hexagonal close-packed (HCP) crystal structure. In this arrangement, each atom is in contact with twelve neighboring atoms – six in the same plane, three above, and three below. This structure leads to high strength and corrosion resistance which makes titanium very useful in many applications like in the aerospace and medical industries. The HCP structure of Ti has two important directional indices, known as the “a” direction (along the hexagonal plane) and the “c” direction (along the height of the hexagon). The a/c ratio, which is the ratio of the hexagonal plane diameter to its height, is important in determining the mechanical properties of Ti and its alloys.

Release Time:
March 19, 2024, 6:17 PM
Titanium dioxide is a popular pigment found in various items. including feminine hygiene products. due to its ability to add opacity and brightness. However. there is controversy surrounding the inhalation of its powdered form. which can lead to health issues. Despite being prohibited in food by the EU. it is still permitted for use in personal care goods. Further investigation into its safety specifically for feminine hygiene products is necessary. and any potential risks should be carefully considered alongside its advantages.

Q
is titanium dioxide considered natural

Release Time:
June 28, 2024, 7:54 PM
Titanium dioxide (TiO2) is a compound naturally occurring in minerals such as rutile, ilmenite, and anatase. However, the titanium dioxide used in consumer products is usually made through a synthetic process. The natural mineral form is processed and purified to produce the white pigment used in a wide range of applications, from paints and sunscreens to food coloring. Despite its synthetic processing for industrial use, the base substance is derived from a natural mineral source. Therefore, whether titanium dioxide is considered “natural” can depend on the context and criteria used. For strict natural product standards, its processed form may not qualify due to the chemical alterations and extraction methods involved.

While titanium dioxide is derived from natural minerals such as titanium. some consider it a man-made substance because it is often used in processing and refining a wide range of products and industries. Despite being derived from natural sources. titanium dioxide is highly processed in its common form. as it provides a bright white color and UV filter in cosmetics. food and pharmaceuticals.

Release Time:
February 28, 2024, 6:17 PM
The IARC has marked titanium dioxide as a category 2B carcinogen. indicating potential harm to humans. This determination stems from studies showing that excessive levels can lead to respiratory tract cancer in rats and limited findings from human trials. Despite this classification. the full extent of its risk is unknown and further investigations are necessary. It should be noted that these risks primarily apply to those who come into contact with titanium dioxide nanoparticles through employment in industries involving its production or use.
