Ahmedabad: On Wednesday, Oerlikon opened its third drive system unit plant in Ahmedabad, Sanand district, Gujarat.

Dr. Matthes, CEO of Oerlikon’s Drive Systems Division, said, “With this new manufacturing capacity, we will continue to travel in India, enhancing our ability to advance high-tech products and enabling our customers to develop new and innovative solutions for the domestic market.” “We will provide our full support,” he said. Visit our 10th global manufacturing facility.

Oerlikon Drive Systems Division from 19999 Oerlikon has been operating in India for many years, with manufacturing facilities for the Oerlikon Grazianono and Oerlikon Fairfilld brands in Greater Noida and Belgaum, respectively. Oerlikon Drive Systems serves both domestic and international markets, including construction equipment, commercial and utility vehicles, industrial applications and agricultural markets.

The Rs. 1,000-crore Cr Sanand facility is spread over 35-odd acres of land and will employ over 10,000 people when fully operational. The plant will manufacture complete transmissions and final transmission assemblies such as transmission synchronizers, CVT transmissions for agricultural tractors, variable speed drive axles for on-road and off-road applications such as recreational vehicles and wheel loaders.

Sanand is a well-established automotive company center and an important gathering place for talented engineers specializing in product assembly and prototyping. The new facility is not only close to the port, but also enables Oerlikon’s Drive Systems division to produce high-tech products and solutions at competitive costs, taking full advantage of India’s high-cost labor market and the country’s many existing and potential customers. This will give Oerlikon the added benefit of being close to them. The company’s management said that the next phase of construction of the Sanand plant will begin soon, taking into account the obvious benefits mentioned above.

The Noida plant is more focused on manufacturing high precision gears and synchronizers under the Oerlikon Graziano brand, while the Belgaum plant is focused on assembling drive units for industrial applications under the Oerlikon Fairfield brand.
